Are you ready to schedule your Multistate Professional Responsibility Exam (MPRE®)? We have included detailed instructions on scheduling your MPRE below and other related dates you need to know. Let's get to it!

The procedure for registering for MPRE is a lengthy one. You must complete the National Conference of Bar Examiners (NCBE®) registration process, schedule your exam date with Pearson VUE, and pay the exam fee all before the registration deadline. The MPRE does not accept applications after the registration deadline. Therefore, it is in your best interest to schedule your exam and pay the test fee as soon as possible to secure your testing location and desired date.

MPRE Test Dates 2023

The table below lists the MPRE 2023 dates for registration deadlines and accommodation applications. Registration for the March 2023 MPRE opened Wednesday, August 31, 2022. Registration for the August and November 2023 MPRE is scheduled to open later in 2022.

How to Schedule/Reschedule/Cancel Your MPRE Examination?

There are several steps involved in registering for the MPRE. If you want to secure your MPRE date and have access to most testing centers, you should schedule your exam and pay the exam fee as soon as possible.

Scheduling Process

Pearson VUE will send you an email confirming your MPRE date and payment. Please make a note of the following:

  • You will not be able to sit for the MPRE during the testing session for which you have not registered and paid the exam fee.
  • NCBE will submit your MPRE registration information to Pearson VUE, and Pearson VUE will send your MPRE responses to NCBE for scoring.
  • You are responsible for reviewing the NCBE Privacy Policy and the Pearson VUE Privacy and Cookies Policy.
  • The MPRE is tested throughout the US at Pearson VUE testing locations. There is no guarantee that you will get the testing center of your choice; therefore, you may have to travel to your designated testing center.
  • It is in your best interest to make your test appointment and pay the test fee as soon as possible to maximize the availability of testing sites and dates.
  • Pearson VUE controls all MPRE testing center location assignments. As part of your scheduling process, you can browse open testing facilities after receiving the Authorization to Test email from Pearson VUE and creating a Pearson VUE account.
    Note: not all Pearson VUE testing centers administer the MPRE.
  • You will receive a confirmation email for your Pearson VUE exam location and exam date within 48 hours of completing the registration process.

Rescheduling Process

You can reschedule your MPRE date for a different testing facility and time. You should reschedule your exam at least 48 hours in advance. To reschedule your exam, log into your Pearson VUE account online or call 888-205-1855. There is a $25 rescheduling fee.

Cancellation Process

You may cancel your appointment and obtain a refund of $75 if you are unable to take the exam on the date and time for which you originally scheduled it. Your Pearson VUE appointment can be canceled using your online account or by calling 888-205-1855. If you need to cancel your appointment and get a refund, you must do so at least 48 hours before your scheduled appointment time. Please note that you cannot transfer your registration to another individual.

Note: In addition to registration opening on August 31, 2022, for the March 2023 MPRE, the registration opening dates for August and November 2023 are later this year (2022).

MPRE Exam Day: Essentials & Tips

Advice for the Day Before the MPRE

Here are some expert tips on how to approach the MPRE:

  • If you're one of those students who puts off studying till the last minute, take note! Don't waste a day of rest if all your preparation for the MPRE has yielded results. Start by reviewing your MPRE outline if you haven't already and feel that it is necessary.
  • Spend the next couple of hours today making a brief summary of the content you'll be covering tomorrow. Writing or typing your own brief plan will make you feel much more in control of the situation.
  • To calm your nerves about taking the MPRE, know that you need to get 28–30 questions right to pass (We're talking 56% to 60%). This holds true irrespective of your state’s required passing score.
  • Prepare for the exam by gathering your number 2 pencils, photo ID, and any other items you will need.
  • Find out the address for the Pearson VUE testing center.
  • If you are truly worried about finding your way there, it wouldn't harm you to travel there once before the exam. Please refuel your vehicle if you plan on driving.
  • Maintain a healthy diet and avoid consuming excessive amounts of alcohol or unhealthy foods.
  • Go for a run or make your way to the gym today to get in some exercise, which always helps with mental clarity. It will also encourage you to turn in early, allowing you to get plenty of rest before the exam.
